NRC Assam: Hatigaon, Maligaon, Ulubari Among 16 "Very Sensitive" Areas In Guwahati

GUWAHATI: Just three days ahead of NRC final list, Commissioner of Police, Deepak Kumar, met with all Officers in Charge (OCs) of the city to address the safety measures.

According to a highly placed source, 16 "very sensitive" areas have been identified in Guwahati ahead of the final National Register of Citizens (NRC) publication.

Among them are areas like Hatigaon, Maligaon, and Ulubari. However, the complete list was not provided until the filing of the story.

Speaking about the preparedness measures for security arrangements ahead of final NRC list publication, Kumar said, “We called the officers- in-charge of all police stations and reviewed the plan and also sensitised and briefed the officers.”

He added that for this, over the past few months, the police have conducted meetings and discussions with several organisations including Nagarik Committees, intellectuals and civil society and public meetings on the basis of which they have formed the security plan.  

“Apart from this, guidelines have also sent to us by the DGP office which we have incorporated in the measures in the law and order programme,” mentioned Kumar.

He further said that additional forces have been deployed for the same.
