GUWAHATI: The Meghalaya government has agreed to the construction of an alternative road from Shillong to Guwahati via Mairang-Rani-Azara road. This road has been called an alternative road to the airport from the Meghalaya.
An amount of Rs 196 crore has been sanctioned by the government for the construction of the 79 KM road. On February 24, Meghalaya Legislative Chief Metbah Lyngdoh laid the foundation stone for the same.
The road is set to be completed in the upcoming two years. Earlier in 2018, Gauhati West MLA Ramendra Narayan Kalita had sent a letter over the widening of the road to the Meghalaya government.
