GUWAHATI: The Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) will soon begin online registration of pet dogs on their portal.

This was announced in a recent notification by the municipal body. The owners will have to register their dogs at the Lakhtokia Veterinary Office under GMC.

For this, an application form will be available for Rs. 10 and the registration has been fixed at Rs. 200. Owners will have to pay another Rs. 50 as service charge if they register their pets in any other veterinary firm.

The minimum age for registration of domestic dogs is three months. After the registration, a metal collar and a registration letter will be provided to the owners. According to the notification, the registration number (metal collar) should be hanged around the neck of the dog.

“Adequate health care and timely vaccination need to be ensured. Pet owners should keep their dogs in a way that does not affect the neighbours and roadside public. Pet owners will also restrict their pet movement within their premises. They should not be left free in public areas. Pet owners should not allow their pets to defecate in public premises,” the notification read.
