GUWAHATI: A project has been sponsored by the Central Government to facilitate tracking of illegal immigrants in Assam.
This project is being sponsored by the Central Government at a cost of around Rs 99 crore.
It would identify the people through the National Register of Citizens (NRC).
As per reports by regional media houses, the Centre approved the scheme following a State Government proposal. The scheme will introduce a ‘bio-metric-based real-time’ tracking system for suspected illegal immigrants identified though the NRC.
