GUWAHATI: Renowned folk singer from Assam, Archana Mahanta, has been admitted to a city-based nursing home in Guwahati following a brain stroke on July 15.
Currently, the singer is undergoing treatment at Health City Hospital in Guwahati.

Assam Chief Minister, Sarbananba Sonowal, took to his Twitter handle to write, “Concerned over the news of eminent Assamese singer Smt. Archana Mahanta baideu’s illness. My prayers for her quick recovery.”
Archana Mahanta and her late husband Khagen Mahanta had an enormous contribution in popularising and preserving Assamese folk music. The duo's son Angarag Papon Mahanta, who has carved a niche for himself, is also a famous playback singer in Bollywood with an enormous body of work in Assamese music.
