GUWAHATI: The Indian Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rainfall forecast for Assam and Meghalaya.

As per the forecast by the Regional Meteorological Centre, Guwahati, the northeastern states are likely to experience moderate to heavy rainfall for the next five days from July 25 to July 30.

The forecast states that in Assam, heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at isolated places from July 25 to July 30. While in Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur and Tripura, heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at isolated places on July 26, July 29 and July 30.

It is to be mentioned that the flood situation has worsened in Lower Assam following incessant rains and because of the release of excess waters from the Kuricchu Hydropower Plant reservoirs in Kuricchu river in Bhutan.
