Northeast India Festival To be Held In Washington DC, Celebrates 75 Years Of Indo-US Ties

 

GUWAHATI: The North East Institute of Fashion Technology (NEIFT), Assam has been hosting the annual Mega Festival, Celebrating Northeast for the past 14 editions in Delhi and Guwahati with the vision to promote the tourism, textile, cultural, and musical heritage industries, among others, and to foster an environment that is friendly to investment in the North East region. Numerous Central Ministries, NER State Governments and PSUs, Media Houses, etc. have been instrumental in helping NEIFT bring the North East Region closer to the residents of Delhi-NCR over the course of the festival's historic 14-year existence.

As India celebrates 75 Years of Independence and 75 Years of Indo-US Diplomatic Relations. The NEIFT is bringing its Festival to the World Arena and organising it at Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center, Washington DC, in the USA on December 11, 2022, 

According to NEIFT, it is urgently necessary to reconsider tactics for promoting the tourism sector in the Post-Covid Era. The Prime Minister urged the Indian diaspora to be "Rashtradoots." The "Chalo India!" The campaign will be a big success and represent a revolutionary move for the Indian tourist industry if every Indian fulfills his goal of persuading five friends who are not Indian to visit India. The chief executive officer of NEIFT, Vikram Rai Medhi, believes that the 4.2 million-strong Indian diaspora in the USA, will undoubtedly play a significant part in "Chalo India!" becoming a game-changer for the nation's tourism industry. The Festival will be a suitable venue for spreading awareness of the "Chalo India" campaign among a strong, united community made up of medical professionals, IT specialists, MNC employees, restaurant owners, and chefs, as well as entrepreneurs who have access to sizable social and professional networks.

Rai Medhi described the details of the Washington, D.C. event to the media in New Delhi. It is a Thematic Exhibition Arena, a B2B meet-cum-Open Forum on Tourism Potentials of the Exotic North East of India, and the Development of Sustainable Textiles for "Textile Tourism" will be included. The White House, Capitol Hill, the Washington Monument, and other famous locations are all within easy walking distance of the venue.

Sattriya, Tiwa, Bihu, Manipuri, Mizo, and other folk dances will be featured in the cultural programme. Live bands from the North East will captivate the international audience, and Zubeen Garg's performance will be one of the evening's key draws. 

Topline Designers from various North East States will present their collections in a fashion show on the magnificent Stage and Runway. According to NEIFT, the Mega Event is expected to draw Senators, Governors, Ambassadors, Political Bigwigs of Washington, D.C., International Media, Stakeholders of the Tourism and Textile Sectors, etc.
