GUWAHATI: A boat which capsized today in the Brahmaputra with nearly 50 passengers onboard was reportedly a result of an engine failure.

The unfortunate incident occurred near the Aswaklanta Temple of North Guwahati.

The body of a deceased identified as Ankita Baruah has been recovered. She was reportedly a student of Cotton University.

The boat had collided with a bridge after which its engine failed.

Although another boat came for the rescue, the rescue operations became difficult due to the turbulent waters.
