No More Class 10 Board Exams From 2024, Confirms Assam CM

 

GUWAHATI: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday announced that Class 10 board exams will be done away with in 2024.

The decision aligns with the implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP 2020).

Interacting with the media in Guwahati, the CM said that Class 10 examinations will be conducted at the school level and a new educational board will be established in the state.

On being asked if the employees of the Board of Secondary Education, Assam (SEBA), would lose their jobs because of this, the CM assured that no one was going to lose their jobs, reports stated.

It may be mentioned here that SEBA is responsible for conducting Class 10 board exams in the state.

He also reportedly informed the students of the merger of SEBA and Assam Higher Secondary Council (AHSEC) into one common body, and this body will be responsible for conducting one common exam for the students in Class 12.

It may be mentioned here that SEBA and AHSEC merger was announced by Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma in 2021.

"Took a host of decisions at a review meeting with Elementary & Secondary Education Depts. These include merging all LP and nearby ME schools, SEBA & AHSEC, Elementary & Secondary Education Depts, among others. We also decided to convert all high schools into HS schools," the CM tweeted on November 17, 2021.
