GUWAHATI: The rumors of a monkeypox case reported at the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) were debunked today on November 2 by hospital authorities, clarifying that no such case exists.

Earlier in the day, a media outlet had claimed that GMCH reported the death of a patient due to monkeypox, stating that the individual was admitted to the Neuro Surgery Department of the Cardiothoracic and Neuroscience Centre.
Abhijit Sharma, Superintendent of GMCH, firmly denied the report in a statement to GPlus. “No such case has been reported in GMCH. This is a fabricated false report. It is a case of chickenpox, not monkeypox,” he said
