GUWAHATI: District Administration of Kamrup Metro has dispensed the earlier system of institutional or hotel quarantine in case of air passengers from outside the State.
The decision has been taken in pursuance of the deployment of Rapid Point-of-Care (PoC) Antigen Detection Tests for COVID-19 with which test results are available on the spot within one hour.
If the Antigen Detection Test of a passenger turns out positive, he/ she will proceed to COVID hospital or COVID Care Centre.

If the Antigen Detection Test of a passenger turns out negative, the swab sample will be sent for the RT-PCR COVID-19 test also, and he/she will be allowed to directly proceed for Home Quarantine of 14 days duration.
However, air passengers prefer not to undergo home quarantine for reasons such as inconvenience to other persons staying in their home, since the entire home will be converted to a containment zone, the district administration will facilitate their quarantine in a hotel.
The arrangement will be made subject to the condition that the individual will themselves finalize the rates of accommodation and food, and bear the expenditure.

In case of air passengers who arrive at late hours, the district administration will make arrangements for hotel quarantine and bear the expenditure for an initial period of 36 hours.
After a period of 36 hours, the said persons will have the option to proceed for home quarantine or continue to remain in hotel quarantine at their own expense, for the remaining period of 14 days.
