No Hike In HSLC Examination Fees, Clarifies Assam Education Minister

GUWAHATI: Assam Education Minister, Ranoj Pegu, has categorically refuted recent reports on Friday claiming an increase in the examination fee for the High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) examination conducted by the Board of Secondary Education, Assam (SEBA). 

Pegu clarified that there has been no hike in the HSLC examination fee, and the fee structure remains the same as it was in the previous year. According to the details provided the fee structure for the HSLC examination under SEBA includes SEBA fee of ₹700, Centre fee of ₹350, and practical exam fee of ₹150, making the total examination fee ₹1,200. 

Furthermore, Pegu emphasised that all students categorised as Below Poverty Line (BPL) are exempted from paying this fee. The Education Minister's statement comes in response to recent news reports circulating in certain sections of the media, which erroneously claimed a fee hike for the HSLC examination. Minister Pegu has firmly refuted these reports, labeling them as "false and baseless."

Ranoj Pegu took to Twitter to put out,” There is no hike in the examination fee of HSLC examination under SEBA. The fee structure is as it was in the last year. SEBA fee - ₹700, Centre fee - ₹350 and practical exam fee - ₹150; total 1200/-. All BPL students are exempted from paying this fee. The news circulated in a section of media is false and baseless.”
