GUWAHATI: The Union Minister for Finance and Corporate Affairs, Nirmala Sitharaman, spoke out on Friday about the ongoing crisis in Manipur, calling for united efforts to restore peace in the troubled state.

Addressing the media during an event in Guwahati she highlighted the severity of the recent incident where women were disrobed and paraded, describing it as a "serious and sensitive issue" affecting all communities in the region.

Manipur has been grappling with an extended period of unrest, and the Union Minister stressed the urgency of bringing an end to the turmoil.

"Honestly, all of us will have to make efforts to bring back peace to the state," Sitharaman declared, acknowledging the suffering faced by the people.

Expressing her deep distress over the disrobing incident, Sitharaman stated that no words could adequately describe or address the heinous act.
