NFR Foiled Ticket Touting Worth Over ₹1.15 Lakh In Dec 2024; Four Apprehended

Railway officials have appealed to passengers to purchase tickets through authorised channels to avoid inconvenience during travel and to support the railway’s efforts to ensure lawful ticketing practices

GUWAHATI: The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) carried out several operations over its jurisdiction in December 2024. Conducted by the Railway Protection Force (RPF), these operations saw the apprehension of four touts and the recovery of 45 railway tickets valued at over ₹1.15 lakh.

In one operation on December 22, the RPF CIB team of Katihar, along with the RPF team of Purnea, conducted a raid at ‘Galib Computers’ in Puranganj, Bihar. The raid led to the recovery of 20 e-tickets, including one live ticket and 19 used tickets, worth approximately ₹47,928.30.

A tout was apprehended in the operation, and a case was registered under Section 143 of the Railways Act at the RPF post in Purnea for further investigation.

Another operation took place earlier on December 7, as the CIB team of RPF Lumding, along with the RPF team of New Haflong, apprehended another tout during a drive. The operation resulted in the recovery of a railway ticket worth ₹2,530, and a case was filed under Section 143 of the Railways Act at the New Haflong RPF post.
