New Guwahati Records Lowest Voter Turnout In Guwahati Parliamentary Constituency 

 

GUWAHATI: The New Guwahati assembly constituency recorded the lowest voter turnout in the Guwahati parliamentary constituency (PC) in phase three of Lok Sabha elections 2024. Guwahati parliamentary constituency recorded an overall polling percentage of 78.39%.

The voter turnout across the ten assembly constituencies within the Guwahati PC revealed a slight edge among male voters, with 78.89%, compared to 77.91% for females. Notably, the voter turnout among the third-gender community was much lower, at 12.07%.

Turnout Highlights by Assembly Constituency:

•    Goalpara West (ST): Out of 159,047 registered voters, 138,442 cast their votes, resulting in a turnout rate of 87.04%.
•    Dudhnoi (ST): This constituency saw a turnout of 85.99%, with 151,294 of 175,947 eligible voters participating.
•    Chamaria: With the highest turnout, this constituency reported a 89.89% turnout, with 210,538 votes cast.
•    Boko-Chaygaon (ST): A total of 158,405 votes were cast out of 196,292 registered voters, equating to an 80.70% turnout rate.
•    Palasbari: This constituency reported an 80.09% turnout, with 172,710 voters participating.
•    Dispur: Turnout was lower here, with 69.79%, where 168,910 votes were cast.
•    Dimoria (SC): A turnout of 76.94% was recorded, with 167,919 votes cast.
•    New Guwahati: This constituency saw the lowest turnout of 67.93%, with 132,243 votes cast out of 194,683 registered voters.
•    Guwahati Central: The turnout rate was 71.24%, with 140,048 votes cast out of 196,592 eligible voters.
•    Jalukbari: The turnout rate here was 76.50%, with 156,155 out of 204,137 voters casting their votes.

The voter turnout for Phase III, which covers multiple Lok Sabha constituencies, was recorded at 85.45%. This phase covered a total of 8,149,091 registered voters across various states.

Overall, the grand total voter turnout across all three phases stood at 81.56%. The turnout rate among male voters was 81.42%, among female voters was 81.71%, and among third-gender voters was 18.81%.
