GUWAHATI: Bajali sub-division in Assam has been officially declared as a district.

Previously in August 2020, the Assam government had passed an order asserting Bajali as a district. Bajali is situated 103 kilometres west of Guwahati.

On 12th January, Tuesday, a formal notice was issued by the Governor of Assam Jagdish Mukhi declaring Bajali as a new district of Assam.

Meanwhile, Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonwal expressed great joy over the declaration.

“Today is a great day for the people of Bajali subdivision as formal notification declaring it as a district has been issued. I congratulate the people on this occasion. I believe this will pave way for faster development of the educational and cultural hub of Assam,” the Assam Chief Minister tweeted.
