GUWAHATI: To ease traffic in the Ganeshguri area, the Transport Department has come up with an alternative route for city buses plying from Panjabari to Jalukbari and vice-versa.
The new routes will be opened from September 19.
According to the notification, the city buses coming from Panjabari to Jalukbari will ply via Sixmile, VIP Road, Narengi and Noonmati.

However, the buses coming from Jalukbari will continue the use of the old route. At present there are 180 buses plying on Guwahati Roads while 80 buses ply on route number 8, i.e. Panjabari to Jalukbari.
The notification has come in order to minimise traffic during peak traffic hours in Ganeshguri.
