GUWAHATI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while addressing the 95th annual plenary session of the Indian Chamber of Commerce via video conferencing today, said that North East India could become the organic hub of the country.

He said that the entire region could become the organic capital and bring about a revolution in farming activities if Indian Chamber of Commerce puts in the effort.

“You can create its global identity. If you want, you capture the global market with such products,” said the Prime Minister.

Sikkim was the first Indian state to officially announce adoption of the practice in 2003 to ensure long term sustenance.

Sikkim is the only state in the world which grows 100 percent organic produce. All of the state’s farmlands are organic certified.
