National Sports Day 2020: Arjuna Award Conferred on Assam’s Lovlina Borgohain

India celebrates National Sports Day on August 29 to honour the hockey legend, Major Dhyan Chand Singh.

To commemorate his birth anniversary, the Indian Government constituted the National Sports Awards.

Every year, the President of India confers the Arjuna Award, Dhyan Chand Award, Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna and Dronacharya Award ceremoniously at the Rastrapati Bhavan to the outstanding sportspersons of the country.

Assam's ace pugilist Lovlina Borgohain is among the ones selected for the prestigious Arjuna Award.

This year the celebrations have been curbed and in a first, the awards were presented virtually.
