GUWAHATI: Mission Organic Value Chain Development for North Eastern Region Assam under DH&FP Assam participated in a 2-day event at Bhogali Mela 2023, organised by Pride East Entertainment Pvt. Ltd. in collaboration with Assam Pradesh Kisan Morcha from January 11-12, 2022 at Dighali Pukhuri, Guwahati.
As Bhogali Bihu is around the corner, people are looking for Authentic Assamese food and delicacies. The Farmer Producer Companies have showcased organic produces including Organic Bananas, Red Rice, Kumol Saul or Magic Rice, Joha Rice, Black Rice, organic spices and other rice varieties.
It is to be noted that the FPCs under MOVCD-NER, Assam Scheme have been working actively in organic production throughout various districts in Assam and have been successful in producing large amounts of Organic Pineapples, Organic Bananas, and Organic Assam Lemon. Other organic produces like Turmeric, Ginger, Banana, Red Rice, Magic Rice, Joha Rice, Black Rice, etc. are also being produced under this scheme.
Through this event, MOVCD-NER, Assam under DH&FP Assam is supporting the farmers with a market platform.
Panbari Bodofa Agro Organic FPC under MOVCD-NER, Assam said “The Department has supported us with Processing Machines. And we are soon going to use it for the processing of our products. Currently, our FPC produces Organic Turmeric, Organic Ginger, Assam Lemon and Malbhog Bananas.”
Amlighat Banana Producer Co. Ltd. FPC shared, “We have brought Joha Rice, Kumol Rice etc. to this Bhogali Mela. People have shown interest in buying our organic produces even if it is costlier than the inorganic. The Malbhog Bananas are all sold out. If people keep coming forward and chooses Organic, we will soon be rid of health problems.”
Tetelia Organic FPC shares, “We have displayed Organic Rice, Organic Spice and Organic Cocoa. We have sold produces and earned around ₹12,000 on the first day.”
