Modern Indian Language to Replace Alternative English in HS

GUWAHATI: The Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC) has decided to remove alternative English from the list of compulsory language papers for classes XI and XII.

With this students have to now study only a prescribed modern Indian language (MIL).

The council has listed MILs which can be choose by the students- Assamese, Hindi, Bengali, Bodo, Hmar, Garo, Khasi, Manipuri, Urdu and Nepali.

However, general English will continue to remain a compulsory paper for all students.
