Mizoram kid who tried to save a chicken’s life to be awarded by PETA

GUWAHATI: Six-year-old Derek C Lalchhanhima from Sairang, Mizoram who accidentally ran over his neighbour’s chicken with his cycle and immediately took the chicken to the hospital for medical assistance will be awarded with the ‘Compassionate Kid’ award by PETA (People for Ethical Treatment of Animals) for his act of compassion that won people’s hearts everywhere.

Derek made headlines across the world with his heartwarming gesture and his facebook post went viral. It was posted by username ‘Sanga Says’ and has garnered more than 78K shares and more than 10K comments. 

He was also awarded with a traditional shawl and certificate by his school.
