Miscreants wreaked havoc at the Baghjap Mandal Congress election campaign office late on Wednesday night, ripping apart banners and posters. Among the casualties were banners featuring Congress candidate Pradyut Bordoloi.
Talking to GPlus, a police official from Jagiroad Police Station said, “We suspect that the individuals vandalised and created the chaos yesterday night. We are looking into it to gather more evidence.”
Reportedly, the incident has also elicited strong reactions from party workers, who have pointed fingers at the opposition, alleging that the vandalism is a desperate attempt to hinder the Congress's electoral prospects.
Further details are awaited as investigations are underway.
