Miscreants Attempt To Loot Businessman In Assam, Four Arrested

GUWAHATI: A five-member gang of dacoits brutally attacked a businessman, inflicting stab wounds upon him while attempting to loot him off over ₹5 lakh on Monday night at 9:30 PM.

The incident took place in the Goroimari area, located in Assam's Kamrup district.

The Kamrup Police officials while speaking to G Plus said that the Kamrup Police team led by the additional Superintendent of Police (SP) Crime, within a span of eight hours, managed to arrest four out of the five miscreants. The fifth dacoit is absconding as of yet and operations are underway to nab him as soon as possible.

The four arrested have been identified as Kayum Ali, Oli Ahmed, Hasen Ali and Amir Ali, confirmed police officials to G Plus.

The victim of the assault has been identified as a local businessman who was heading home from his shop at the time of the incident.

As he made his way, five miscreants ambushed him, assaulting him with a sharp weapon in an attempt to rob him of the money.

The attack left the businessman with severe injuries and he was urgently referred to the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) for immediate medical attention. However, the man is stable and has been discharged.

The police officials also informed G Plus that along with the arrests, two motorcycles have been seized from the possession of the arrested dacoits.
