GUWAHATI: A 10-year-old child was rescued near Jorabat, Meghalaya on Thursday, September 15. The girl was allegedly kidnapped from Guwahati.
As per the tweet by Guwahati Police on September 16, one Sukumar Barman was arrested for his alleged involvement in the kidnapping of the minor. Sukumar worked as a driver for the family of the child who kidnapped her while taking her to tuition.
Barman had also demanded a ransom of ₹7 Lakhs from the family, according to the tweet.
“SOG EGPD acted swiftly to safely rescue a 10-yr-old minor girl from near Jorabat & arrested Sukumar Barman of Howly last evening. The arrested, who worked as a driver with the family, went rogue & kidnapped the girl while taking her for tuition & demanded a ransom of ₹ 7 lakh,” read the tweet.
