GUWAHATI: The Assam government has increased wage under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) to Rs 202 per person per day from Rs 182. This was stated by Assam health and finance minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma, at a press conference from the Assam Scretariat today, i.e., May 18.
With the aim to provide aid to returnee migrant labourers, the government has taken up the responsibility to provide them with food and shelter.
Starting from tomorrow, May 19, the state government will be delivering grains to migrant labourers for the next 2 months as decided by the central government.
