The Meghalaya government, in a SOP issued in this regard, has informed that tourists who wish to visit the state will have to mandatorily register on the Meghalaya Tourism App and generate an e-invite for the proposed itinerary.

Photo identity cards of all members of the visiting group have to be uploaded to obtain one common e-invite.

Further, a COVID-19 negative result is mandatory. Tourists can get it done in their home state provided the same is done within 72 hours of their visit. It is to be noted that the RAT negative result is not valid for tourists entering the state. While people with symptoms of Covid are advised not to travel, tourists with symptoms will be tested at the entry points despite having a negative report.

With an aim to provide support to the travel industry of the state after months of lockdown and subsequent losses, the tourism department of Meghalaya has made it mandatory for tourists to book hotels, homestays, and guest houses for at least two nights.

If visitors wish to stay as guests at friends' and relatives' homes, then the full address and contact details of the family or friend have to be declared while generating the e-invite.

A print or soft copy of the e-invite along with original IDs and original negative results of each tourist needs to be furnished at the entry gates.
