GUWAHATI: The people of Assam observed Me-Dam-Me-Phi across Assam to offer tributes to the Ahom ancestors on January 31.
The locals were seen in their traditional attires and performing the rituals and traditions of the festival with a Phuralung Puja.

The word ‘Me’ means offering, ‘Dam’ means ancestors and ‘Phi’ means gods. So the word ‘Me-Dam-Me-Phi’ means oblations offered to the dead and sacrifices to gods.
