Man Cancels Order After Being Allotted ‘Non-Hindu’ Rider, Zomato’s Reply Wins Applause

GUWAHATI: Zomato- the food delivery app’s reply to a customer on Twitter who refused to accept the order after being allotted a ‘non-Hindu’ rider, is winning a lot of appreciation from netizens.

The customer, Amit Shukla, cancelled an order after he was assigned a “non Hindu rider” for his food delivery. Shukla mentioned that Zomato refused to change the rider and allegedly said they couldn’t refund on cancellation.  

Tagging Zomato on Twitter Shukla wrote: “Just cancelled an order on @ZomatoIN they allocated a non hindu rider for my food they said they can't change rider and can't refund on cancellation I said you can't force me to take a delivery I don't want don't refund just cancel.”     

To which Zomato replied, “Food doesn’t have a religion. It is a religion.”

 

The food delivery app’s reply went viral and garnered over 12,000 retweets and more than 31,000 likes. Zomato’s reply was widely appreciated by Twitterati.  

Shortly after this, Zomato’s founder, Deepinder Goyal tweeted:   

“We are proud of the idea of India - and the diversity of our esteemed customers and partners. We aren’t sorry to lose any business that comes in the way of our values.”
