The incident was informed by Guwahati police on Friday, February 21.

Sharma had taken the vehicle on loan for 15 days, promising to return it in good condition. However, neither the car nor Sharma was seen again, leaving the vehicle’s owner in distress. Investigations later revealed that the accused had illicitly sold the vehicle for ₹7 lakh before vanishing.

The case took a turn when a team from Noonmati police station tracked down the missing vehicle in Guwahati’s Narikal Basti. Action by authorities then led to the recovery of the SUV and the arrest of Sharma, abruptly ending his long escape.

Following his capture, Sharma was sent to judicial custody. Authorities are now investigating further details of the fraudulent sale and any possible accomplices involved.
