GUWAHATI: Assam police seized a significant quantity of explosives during a raid in Barbilla’s Amtenga region on Sunday night, December 15. This operation was supported by the Kalapani Police Station.

One individual, identified as Ijazul Miah (40), a resident of Amtenga village, was arrested in connection with the seizure.
Led by Additional Superintendent of Police Pratap Das, the operation was launched following a tip-off received earlier that evening. The raid resulted in the recovery of 760 explosive sticks sorted across 38 bags of sticks, with 20 sticks in each bag.
Additionally, 400 CDET ALFA detonators were seized, alongside 125 CDET ELECTRA immediate electric detonators packed in bundles of 25.
Police also recovered 55 bundles of blue explosive wires, three bundles of electric wires in red, blue, and black, six white cement packets, and tools like scissors and cutters used in handling explosives.
Upon interrogation, Miah revealed that the explosives had been supplied by an individual named Sangma on Saturday for ₹70,000. Authorities suspect the involvement of a larger network and are currently working to identify others involved in the operation.
