GUWAHATI: Due to major taffic congestion in the Machkhowa- Bharalumukh area, the Assam government has decided to shift the ASTC bus terminus from Machkhowa to ISBT.
A division bench of the High Court comprising Chief Justice Ajai Lamba and Justice Soumitra Saikia issued a directive on the PIL(72/2016) by Rita Das Mozumder. It was directed to shift the said bus terminus from the present location.
Speaking to G Plus, Kulendra Nath Khatoniar, Deputy General Manager of ASTC, said " We have wrote to the High Court asking for time. A tender was passed, and the Government had already sanctioned Rs 1 crore.
An area behind the current ISBT terminus has been given to us and development of the area has already started. We have informed the court that the work would be completed and the bus terminus will be shifted from Machkhowa by July this year."
