LS Polls: Committee Formed To Review Election-Related Complaints In Assam

 

GUWAHATI: A state-level committee has been made for scrutinising and reviewing the Election-related complaints involving District Election Officers, Returning Officers, and Assistant Returning Officers during the period of conduction of the Lok Sabha elections, 2024.

The committee will be headed by the Assam chief secretary as the Chairman of the committee. Additional Chief Secretary, Industries, Commerce & PE and Finance Dept, and OSD in the office of Chief Secretary will be a member of the committee.

Senior most Secretary, Home & Political Department will be a member of the committee.

Commissioner & Secretary, Finance Department will also be a member of the committee.

Senior most Secretary, Personnel Department will be the Member Secretary of the committee.

The Committee will examine the complaints received against the District Election Officers,

Returning Officers  and Assistant Returning Officers during the period of conduct of the General Election to Lok Sabha, 2024 in the light of the Election Model Code of Conduct, and other Election Commission of India guidelines and send its findings and recommendations to the concerned Administrative Departments for taking the appropriate action. The Committee will function from the date of enforcement of the Election Model Code of
Conduct till completion of the Election process.
