GUWAHATI: The distance between Dhubri to Phulbari will soon be just 18 km. The distance between the two neighboring states of Assam and Meghalaya will be reduced by 203 km, as India's longest bridge will be built across the River Brahmaputra by construction giant Larsen & Toubro (L&T).

L& T acquired the project after emerging as the lowest bidder at Rs 3,200 crore.

"Larsen & Toubro has emerged as the lowest bidder for about Rs 3,200 crore four-lane road bridge across river Brahmaputra from Dhubri to Phulbari on NH 127 B," National Highways & Infrastructure Development Corporation (NHIDCL) said on 16th November.

The four-lane bridge will be financed by Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), as a part of its investment for the development of the northeastern region.
