Lok Sabha MP Dilip Saikia Appointed as BJP Assam Unit President

 

Saikia succeeds Rangia MLA Bhabesh Kalita, who has served as BJP Assam unit president since June 2021

GUWAHATI: Dilip Saikia, the Lok Sabha MP from Darrang–Udalguri, is all set to become the new president of the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) Assam unit. Saikia emerged as the sole contender for the post as the deadline for filing nominations closed at 6:40 PM. on Thursday, January 16.

"The official announcement of Saikia’s appointment is expected on Friday, January 17, at around 11:30 AM. The announcement will likely be made by Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, and the outgoing state president, Bhabesh Kalita.", sources from BJP told GPlus. 

Saikia succeeds Rangia MLA Bhabesh Kalita, who has served as BJP Assam unit president since June 2021. 

The transition process was overseen by several key leaders, including BJP state in-charge Harish Dwivedi, central leaders Sambit Patra and Sunil Bansal, and Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, who served as the central observer for the leadership change.
