Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced this following a state cabinet meeting held on Thursday, January 16.

Under the scheme, women members of SHGs will receive financial assistance in three phases. In the first phase, each beneficiary will be provided ₹10,000, followed by ₹25,000 in the second phase, with assistance from banks and the government. The third phase will offer an additional ₹50,000 through bank support.

The chief minister revealed that surveys conducted to identify eligible beneficiaries found 31 lakh women meeting the criteria, but due to financial constraints, the scheme will currently support 27 lakh women. Selection of beneficiaries at the block level is set to commence in the coming days for the same.

Exclusions under the scheme include families of ministers, MLAs, gazetted Class I and Class II officers, and income tax payers, making the programme specifically targeted at economically disadvantaged groups.
