Lok Sabha election 2019: Filing of nominations from March 28 to April 4

GUWAHATI: The filing of nominations for the upcoming Lok Sabha election 2019 will begin on March 28 and conclude on April 4, 2019, informed Deputy Commissioner of Kamrup (Metro) Biswajit Pegu addressing the media in Guwahati on March 11, Monday.

He informed that the scrutiny of nomination papers will begin April 5, while the last date of withdrawal of candidature is April 8. Further, the counting of votes will begin on May 23, on the day of polling and the entire election process will end on or before May 27.

The DC further informed that the district administration will provide wheelchairs and companions to those who require the same including persons with disabilities, stating that the motto of this election is 'no voter should be left behind'.

While clarifying the code of conduct for the candidates, Pegu said, “A candidate can spend a maximum of Rs 70 lakh for campaigning and has to submit the expenditure details on daily basis at the deputy commissioner’s office.”
