Leopard Carcasses Found In Fatasil

GUWAHATI: The carcasses of two male leopards, one of which had external injuries, were found in the Fatasil area of Guwahati on December 14. 

Following the discovery, forest officials reached the spot around 10 AM to probe into the matter. 

Talking to GPlus, a forest official from Kamrup (M) stated, "The carcasses were found around 8 AM." 

The carcasses have subsequently been sent for a post-mortem examination.

Preliminary investigations revealed external injuries on one of the leopard carcasses, with the miscreants having removed the canine teeth and some skin parts using sharp tools.

Consequently, wildlife officials have registered two cases, G/52 and G/53 of 2023, dated 14/12/2023, under Section 9, 39, 49B, and punishable under Section 51 of the Wildlife (Protection) Act 1972.
