Lalduhoma Takes Oath As Chief Minister Of Mizoram

GUWAHATI: Lalduhoma, the leader of the Zoram People's Movement (ZPM), officially assumed the role of Chief Minister of Mizoram after being sworn in on December 8.

The oath of office and secrecy was administered by Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati in a ceremony held at Raj Bhavan. Alongside Lalduhoma, eleven other ZPM leaders also took the oath as ministers.

The swearing-in ceremony was attended by prominent political figures, including outgoing Chief Minister Zoramthanga of the Mizo National Front (MNF). MNF MLAs, including Lalchhandama Ralte, the legislature party leader, were present at the event, along with former Chief Minister Lal Thanhawla.

On December 5, the ZPM Legislature Party had elected Lalduhoma as its leader and K. Sapdanga as the deputy leader, paving the way for the formation of the new government. Mizoram, with its 40-member assembly, allows for the appointment of 12 ministers, including the Chief Minister.

In the recent Assembly elections, ZPM emerged victorious, securing 27 seats, a significant increase from the 8 seats it won in the 2018 polls.
