GUWAHATI: A contractual labourer from West Bengal died after falling from the 16th floor of an under-construction high-rise in Guwahati’s Adabari locality on Friday. The incident occurred at the upcoming Ashi Marg housing society when the labourer, identified as Sadiq Akhtar from Malda in West Bengal, was working on the rooftop water tank of the 16-storey building.

Jalukbari Police arrived at the scene shortly after being informed and have since sent the body for post-mortem examination. Authorities have stated they are investigating the circumstances surrounding Akhtar’s death. An official from Jalukbari Police Station commented, “We are looking into the matter. Still waiting for the PMR [post-mortem report].”
