Labour Welfare Department To Organise 'Registration Mela' in Guwahati

GUWAHATI: The Labour Welfare Department, the Commissionerate of Labour under the patronage of the Assam Labour Welfare society has proposed to organise a registration mela in Guwahati on August 27, 2019. 

The main purpose of the registration mela is to remove the involution in the registration and renewal process under various labour laws enforced and monitored by the Labour Welfare Department.

Officials also believe that the mela will help to raise awareness and conduct spot registration and renewal of employers and employees under the Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Act, 1997; The Contract Labour (R&A) Act 1970; The Motor Transport Workers Act, 1961; The Unorganised Workers Social Security Act, 2008.

The event will be held in seven districts of the state including Kamrup (M), Nagaon, Sonitpur, Jorhat,  Dibrugarh, Tinsukia and Cachar starting from 10 a.m. on the same day.
