GUWAHATI: Reportedly, 10 staff members of the Virology Laboratory of Gauhati Medical College & Hospital have tested positive for COVID-19.
Sources inside GMCH have informed that 3 laboratory technicians and 3 doctors, who have been associated with the testing of Covid samples, have been infected with the virus along with 4 other staff members of the laboratory.

“9 people tested positive the day before yesterday and one more yesterday. Today (as on 1st July), the lab will be sanitized. So all testing will be kept on hold for the day at least. We will continue only after further orders,” said a source of GMCH.
He further added, “With many people having tested positive and been hospitalised for treatment, the lab may not function at its full capacity as we have been doing till date.”
