GUWAHATI: Assam has officially announced the "Khel Maharan" sports competition for the year 2023. The call to action was announced by Pallav Gopal Jha, the District Commissioner of Kamrup Metro, and Mayor, Mrigen Sarania.
The meeting convened on September 29 at the office of the District Commissioner to deliberate on the preparations for the Khel Maharan sports event. DC Jha presided over the meeting, which saw the participation of officials from various departments, including Sports and Youth Welfare.
Jha pointed out that the registration process for the competition is already underway and passionately encouraged athletes of all age groups to seize this opportunity. Mayor Sarania has taken the lead by registering for the sports competition himself.
It's worth noting that the registration process for the Khel Maharan sports competition is presently in full swing and will remain open until November 1, 2023.
The sporting categories featured in the event encompass athletics (100m, 200m, 400m, and 800m), football, volleyball, kabaddi, and kho-kho. The competition will be conducted at the panchayat, district, and state levels.
To ensure seamless organisation and efficient management, 121 sports venues in Kamrup Metropolitan District have been earmarked for various sporting categories.
