Assam's Kamrup Metro district one of those districts marked by the Centre. The Union Health Ministry said that a surge in cases has been reported from four districts — Kamrup Metro in Assam, Lucknow, Thiruvananthapuram, and Alappuzha.

These districts have reported high caseloads, low tests per million, and high confirmation percentage of COVID-19.

Kamrup Metro has also reported a higher Case Fatality Rate (CFR) than the national average.

At present, the national CFR is 2.04%. Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan held virtual meetings with officials of these states and UTs to advise and support them on efforts to prevent mortality rate due to COVID-19.
