GUWAHATI: In view of the large gathering of people, non-maintenance of COVID-19 protocols including non-maintenance of social distancing and also in view of the increasing number of COVID-19 positive cases in Guwahati City, the Beltola daily and bi-weekly market has been closed with immediate effect. This was stated in an order issued by the Deputy Commissioner, Kamrup (M).
The order added that any violation of the same would attract penal action under relevant provisions disaster Management Act, 2020.

Notably, the COVID-19 cases in Guwahati have seen a sudden spike in recent days which has resulted in complete lockdown of certain wards in the city.
