GUWAHATI: The Kamrup (M) district administration issued Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to be followed during the upcoming Vishwakarma Puja which will be observed on Thursday, September 17.
"This year, puja celebrations will take place following all COVID-19 protocols amid the ride in cases across the country," said Biswajit Pegu.
He further added that groups of people should be limited to a maximum of three people to avoid the assembly of crowds at any place and time. Wearing of masks and maintaining physical distancing has also been mandated at puja pandals.
Moreover, to mitigate the risk of COVID-19 outbreaks, the number of people in and around the Vishwakarma Puja venues shall be capped at 15.
The district administration has also urged puja committees to avoid the distribution of wet offerings like khichdi during Vishwakarma Puja 2020 in Guwahati. This was informed by Kamrup (m) deputy commissioner Biswajit Pegu who added that puja committees can instead distribute dry-packed prasad.
Decoration and lighting of pandals has been prohibited and roadside stalls have also not been permitted.
