GUWAHATI: Kamrup District Commissioner and District Magistrate Deba Kumar Mishra has issued an order to create seven task forces for specific revenue circles to curb unauthorised activities such as hill cutting and sand excavation.

The revenue circles are North Guwahati, Boko, Palasbari, Hajo, Kamalpur, Chhaygaon, and Rangia.
To tackle incidents of illegal hill cutting, boulder collection, and sand excavation, each task force, headed by the respective circle officers, will conduct surprise inspections in sensitive areas. They have also been empowered to take legal action against offenders and to halt any kind of illegal blasting or excavation activities.
The appointed officers include Bhaskar Jyoti Kalita for North Guwahati, Manab Jyoti Das for Palasbari, Afreen Hussain for Hajo, Dibash Bordoloi for Boko, Bikramjit Bora for Kamalpur, Chiranjit Das for Chhaygaon, and Debasish Borthakur for Rangia.
Alongside these officials, each task force will also comprise officers from the Forest Department, including Range and Beat officers, Motor Vehicle Inspectors (MVIs), and police officers from relevant stations.
To ensure accountability for the entire operation, the task forces will submit action reports to the District Commissioner through assigned monitoring officers.
