GUWAHATI: The Supreme Court (SC) Collegium on Tuesday, May 17, recommended Justice Rashmin Manharbhai Chhaya as the new Chief Justice of Gauhati High Court (HC). Currently, he is a Judge of Gujarat High Court.
Justice N Kotswar Singh is presently serving as the Acting Chief Justice of the Gauhati HC.

Earlier in February 2011, Justice Chhaya was elevated as an Additional Judge of Gujarat High Court and was confirmed as permanent Judge in 2013.
Justice Rashmin Manharbhai Chhaya was born at Veraval, Gujarat. He passed the B Com Examination from MS University, Vadodara in 1981. He did Law at Sir LA Shah College from Gujarat University and passed out Third LLB (Special) Examination in the year 1984.
