GUWAHATI: Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh will officially become Union Territories from October 31 of this year.
On Friday, August 10, President of India, Ram Nath Kovind accepted The Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Act, 2019 which will bifurcate the state into two Union Territories.
The Bill for the same was passed in Lok Sabha with 370-70 votes and in the Rajya Sabha with 125-61 votes.

It should be noted that this would be the first time in the history of the state since India got its independence, that the national flag will be hoisted there instead of their state flag.
