GUWAHATI: Manipur’s Iron lady, Irom Sharmila, known across the world for her 16-year hunger strike against the Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA), gave birth to twin girls at Cloudnine hospital in Bengaluru.

The babies were born on May 12, which is celebrated as Mother’s day across the globe.
She and her husband, Desmond Coutinho, have named their daughters Nix Sakhi and Autumn Tara. Both the daughters weighed 2.1 kg each at birth.
